Melanie S Bruno offers Neuromuscular Cup Therapy, Myofascial Decompression Cup Therapy, Cupping, Vacuum therapy, cupping, cup therapy, CUPPING THERAPY
Silicone or hard polycarbonate cups create negative pressure - lifting instead of compressing - tissue.  The “pull” of the suction cups increases blood flow to the area and when combined with movement confuses the brain, releasing the tension held in muscles and connective tissues. This promotes tissue healing and improved gliding of tissue layers which helps muscle, connective tissue, and skin move more freely increasing range of motion and reducing pain overall.

Melanie offers 3 styles of cupping therapy:

Myofascial Decompression Cup Therapy (MFD) - You don't have to be an Olympic athlete to receive the benefits from cupping therapy.

MFD focuses on muscle restrictions with the client taking a very active part in their treatment with minimal massage work completing session.

This treatment style was developed by Dr. Christopher DePrato, a Physical Therapist and associate professor at the University of San Francisco. MFD is an evidenced based style of decompression therapy that focuses on identifying and treating ROM restrictions and muscular imbalance. With this style of cupping, cups are placed along specific muscle lines. The client is a very active participant in their treatment by performing corrective interventions such as Active and Active Assisted range of motion and contract/relax protocols which inhibits compensatory muscles and enables correct muscles to fire.

Neuromuscular Cupping Therapy (NCT)  - NCT was developed by Gretchen Popp.

Where you feel pain is not necessarily where the pain is stemming from. Constricted areas of connective tissue can develop Trigger points which cause your brain to send pain signals to a different part of your body. NCT uses silicone cups on those constricted areas and/or trigger points  combined with evidenced based neuromuscular techniques in order to decrease those fascial constrictions, thereby decreasing your pain. The client performs simple contract/relax movements during the session, followed by stretches either passively or with Active Isolated Stretching.

Dynamic cupping (cups are moving more than being stationary)

Cups can be added to any massage session in order to feel the difference between lifting connective tissue versus compressing it. Clients state they feel a sense of "more space" in the area that has been cupped.

On-Site Seated Massage

Seated Chair Massage – The client remains clothed and sits on a specially designed massage chair. Seated massage focuses on high stress areas of the head, neck, shoulders, back and arms with the therapist using very little, if any, lotion. Thumb, fingertip and elbow pressure is used on specific stress points. Session length varies anywhere from 5 minutes to ½ hour. Seated massage is an efficient way to receive fast relief from stress and tension.
